This album is pretty much like the rest of the band’s albums except they added more guitar solos and a southern rock feel to their songs. They have a lot of energy and talent playing their instruments, unfortunately not so much writing the songs. The energy seems very uninspired and forced. The lyrics are pretty lacking and cheesy at points, but there are some moments of good lyric writing. Overall the album is pretty bland. Songs seem to run one into another and you don’t realize its happening.

Grits – Reiterate

Grits’ eighth full-length album Reiterate is a new starting point for the group. This album is the first release on their very own record label, Revolution Art.
The beats for this album are refreshing. With a group that has been around for so long, I would have expected very refined beats. For this album, however, Grits went with a more simple approach.
The lyrics overall leave me wanting more. They mention God every once in awhile. However, God is not the focus of the lyrics.
Overall, I like this album. Most of the songs are upbeat and fun to listen to. The beats especially give you a break from what you would hear in most Christian rap. The only reservation I have about this album is the lack of adoration in the lyrics.
