Veggietales:  Abe and the Amazing Promise
Big Idea

The latest story teaches patience from the perspective of the biblical narrative of Abraham and Sarah and their impatience (or mistrust) of God’s promise.  The lead into the story is very clever, as they use a behind-the-scenes of a movie production to recount the story.  As the story gets rolling I love the setting of the retirement home, miniature golf and swimming pools!  The story is loaded witty little illustrations of what it means to be patient, and all together they teach the lesson as a whole – trust in God and be patient.  It is notable though, to point out that episode leaves out a whole lot of the story, like everything about Hagar and Ishmael.   However, as the character of Abraham says, “there’s a lot more actually, but as far as patience go, it’s a good place to stop.”

The main story is less than 20 minutes and it’s followed by a silly song with Larry titled “Sneeze If You Need To!” and a second episode titled “Blunders in Boo-Boo-Ville,” a musical featuring Larry the Cucumber.  This too is a story on patience.
