The Heart of Christmas
Josh Caterer
Josh Caterer offers a quaint holiday CD with 5 eclectic songs ranging from traditional holiday flavorings to more contemporary and alternative pop sounds. An original track, “The Heart of Christmas” describes a heart of worship that becomes even more heightened at Christmas time.
“The Baby From Bethlehem” is another story from the perspective of the shepherd who was told of “good news of great joy” of the baby Emmanuel – the savior – the baby from Bethlehem. The traditional “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” is performed by with an acoustic guitar soundtrack and Caterer’s voice as the focal point. Nicely done.
The last two songs are a bit interesting as it seems Caterer is not all that fond of his Midwest roots when it comes to winter time – “Austin Bound.” And the final track, “Conroy the Gingerbread Boy,” is just oddly interesting. Not being familiar with his former work with The Smoking Popes, I would have to guess that this is right in line with what his fans would expect.
Josh is on a limited tour supporting the new release and you can find more info on http://www.joshcaterer.com/ about the tour and the new CD.
