Who Are We?

When I think back about the past year, the phrase "Roaring Lamb" keeps coming back to mind. I think about the CD, the book, the articles, and most of all, the meaning. The "Roaring Lamb" reaches out to area's that are beyond our set boundaries, and is not afraid to shout out for God.

I have no reservations in saying that Grammy nominee Jennifer Knapp came out with a thundering roar in 2000. Her style of music thrust her into the mainstream. Her music was heard on MTV's "The Real World" and on WB's "Felicity." This kind of exposure is right where it needs to be for Knapp to make a difference with an audience that would not normally be exposed to Christian music. On top of that, Knapp performed on the Lilith Fair tour with Sarah McLachlan and Sheryl Crow. Knapp made this comment regarding mainstream acceptance, "...there are other people who enjoy the music we have, and I take that very seriously."

Knapp is embarking on a headline tour of her very own, "Back 40 Tour." This will include small to medium sized cities that are very important to Knapp. "They're cities where I've received a lot of love along the way, and it's my way of saying thank you to those people for years of support." Along for the tour is Bebo Norman and Justin McRoberts.

Knapp has a spiritual gift, and from what I've read, her fans have been moved by her music. I believe most of all that the artist has to be grounded in God and have a passion for their gift. Knapp became a Christian at an age that is comparable to her audience, and her life was full of many of the same trials her audience is facing, making it easier for her audience to relate. Knapp's passion and musical "grrr" is going to keep this little lamb roaring for a long time.
