WatermarkLeaving their mark… Watermark duo, Christy and Nathan Nockels, have been traveling about the states sharing their testimony through song in an attempt to encourage a body of believers. Christy Nockels describes a Watermark concert as a ministry rather than entertainment. Christy prays that "people will leave knowing that there is a living God that is working and wants to work in their lives," and that "they (the audience) would leave being encouraged." Christy affirmed, "our hearts are for the ministry and that God would use us as ministers." This musical marriage has proven itself to be glorifying and edifying. Christy is a gifted writer and speaker. Nathan expresses himself passionately through music. Together they form a team that is Christ centered in all aspects. Most amazing is their strength and faith that carried them through, not one, but two tragic losses in one year. During the concert Christy recounts with the audience how they lost two babies due to early miscarriages in 1999, and how God's peace was always upon them, "peace that passes understanding." Christy shared how the song "Glory Baby" developed from this experience. There could have hardly been a dry eye during the performance of "Glory Baby." Every Watermark song carries with it an experience that impacted this
couples lives. During the performance the couple would share these experiences
and the impact it had on them. On their web site, www.watermark-online.com
you can find the story ,and a biblical reference, for all the songs on
their latest release "All Things New." Joining Watermark on tour is Word recording artist Kelly Minter. Kelly is a young glowing singer-songwriter. She has a high-energy rock sound that compares to Jennifer Knapp. Together, with Watermark, she sang "Any More Sure", her first radio single from her new album "Good Day." She then went on to nervously play an energetic and uplifting set of songs from her new release. Kelly Minter has a love for music and she communicates well through it. There was also another special guest on the road with Watermark, Noah, Nathan and Christy's nine-month-old son. Nathan and Christy excitedly shared their experiences as new parents. Typically they would bring Noah on stage and show him to the audience. On this particular occasion Noah was teething so we did not get to meet him. Life on the road is not easy in general; add to that trying to raise a baby. Christy stated that not being able to attend church regularly was difficult. She and Nathan would like to introduce Noah to the church, and its nearly impossible while traveling. While on the road they maintain spiritual discipline through long distance friends, taking time for prayer, and leaning on their Rocketown family for support. "We surround ourselves with people who will up lift us," says Christy. Through their music and personal testimony Watermark has used their spiritual
gifts to impact others by leaving God's mark on the listeners hearts and
minds. Their music will forever carry on this ministry of spiritual uplifting.
Nathan and Christy will be spending some time this year writing for their
next release, renovating a new home, and most importantly bringing up
Noah in a loving Christ centered home. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 NIV |
