Matthew Paul Turner Provocative Faith Revell Books From chapter to chapter, through stories, personal interviews, honest and humble opinions, Turner presents a clear picture of what it means to struggle with faith and how to overcome those obstacles. In some ways, the book reminds me of being tired and weary, seeking God, but on my own terms and by my own power, instead of relying on God to get me through the challenges of life and living a “provocative” faith. The big question is what Matthew means by living a “provocative” faith. I don’t want to be a complete spoiler, but it is a response to the Gospel that is outside of your comfort zone. A faith that is at times frightening, as Matthew writes, but also fully rewarding. In the Apostle John’s first letter to early believers, John writes about the intended greatness which the Gospel brings; assurance, fellowship, joy, and the challenge to proclaim the love of Jesus (1 John 1:1-4). I truly believe that this is where Provocative Faith connects, and why it is such an amazing book. - Ken W. |
