Scriggle-It

I have been using the World Wide Web days before it ever became "graphic." And I do not mean the adult graphic, but graphic in general. You know, no point and click. All text and no pictures. Suffice it to say, I have witnessed the evolution of the web and it has been quite exciting. Presently I am reading The World is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century by Thomas L. Friedman. In his book, Friedman writes about the Internet changing the way we do business. It is no secret that the Internet is having an equal impact on the music business as well. Just look at the popularity of sites like MySpace and applications like iTunes. So when I heard about Scriggle-It and what it cold do, I thought right away that this was the most innovative commercial application merging music, musicians, the internet and fans since MySpace.

The following inteview was provided by Gregory Tanacea of Blackwood Media Group. The founders and developers of Scriggleit.com.

Tell me a little bit about the who is behind Scriggleit.com.

Scriggle-it is owned and operated by Blackwood Media Group. We are a team of 6 creative minds who love music and programing computers!

Without getting to technical, what is Scriggle-It?

Scriggle-it provides musicians a better way to collect and manage fan contact information for the purpose of better communicating with them.

What is your teams mission or purpose for Scriggle-It?

Simply to provide the best fan management solution for musicians on the planet! If you want something added to the current service let us know.

Who can benefit the most from your service?

Any touring musician benefits the most from our service because of our Scriggler 1.0 (beta) application. This program allows musicians to electronically collect fan data at concerts. It saves countless hours, improves mailing list accuracy, and more than doubles the rate in which you can grow and access your mailing list information - you can communicate within minutes of getting back to the hotel with your fans who came out to the show you just played. How cool would it be to get home and have an email or a text message from the band you just saw thanking you for coming out to the show.

Non touring musicians can also enjoy all of the 100% free web based services we offer such as unlimited email sending and SMS.

How is this tool useful for independent or signed artists/bands?

This tool allows the artist to completely automate the fan mailing list (and increase fan interaction) in a way that the music industry has never seen before. Most mailing list services/databases are paid services.

The Internet has changed the way we communicate and collaborate. How do you see Scriggleit.com fitting into this changing paradigm today and in the future?

We are trying to make things easier for musicians by providing tools that do not require the them to have a huge marketing budget to promote themselves. Scriggle-it is just beginning. We have a ton of future ideas we intend to implement to streamline music marketing and fan management for musicians but I can't tell you much more than that - sorry!
