Inhabited: On Love and GodBy Ken WiegmanThere is no sibling rivalry with Inhabited. More so there is sibling-synergy that fuels a rock and roll machine with a mission. The siblings, Sara and Marcus Acker, began leading worship together in 1999 and after a pivotal radio interview in 2003 they were on their way to their indie debut “Innerview,” and subsequently their first major label debut “Revolution” on Fervent Records in 2005. After a brief hiatus and a renewed search for a new label the band is back with “Love” releasing on 7 Spin Music. Sara explained that the change in labels was partly due to a desire to have more artistic freedom. In the time between albums and labels the band, however, continued to tour and write music. The wait and the search have certainly paid off for Inhabited on “Love.” The new album is packed with a fusion of rock and passion that is truly authentic. From one track to the next I was continually impressed with how the band had grown artistically since “Revolution.” The message is up-front and more importantly the sincerity is extremely transparent. - Hear Sara Explain the Passion of Inhabited (Opens in QT or iTunes)
There are many themes and styles that run throughout “Love,” including God’s love (and in no small way), self-respect, strength in God, and passionate worship. The message is very encouraging. With Sara leading from the state a few of the songs are more pointed towards the ladies, but many of the messages are universal. Two of the tracks that appear to be primarily aimed at the girls are “Hush” and “Respect.” The sound of “Love” is heavily guitar driven and anthem like, but there are also high moments that are more acoustic driven like “Song to the Fatherless” and there is the title track that is an edgy balled. However the song is delivered, the message is clear and the title “Love” is more than a word or a statement about a juvenile hand-holding feeling. Aside from making music and touring the band also takes part in missions. More specifically, the band has journeyed to Belize to perform and connect. Much of what they do appears to point to making connections. For example, Sara spends time writing a blog and they are launching a sister site to the CD called “The Love Soldiers,” as a way to further connect to their audience. Inhabited’s “Love” is on sale now and the group will be embarking on “The Element Tour” this spring with Sevenglory and Grey Holiday. Their official site is still under construction, but the original site is still accessible at http://www.inhabitedtheband.com. Inhabited exhibits an extraordinary quality of a genuine desire to spread the gospel message of love through music and ministry. The combination of passion and good old rock and roll make “Love” a stellar release with eternal possibilities. |
