Fireflight Members Return From Mission Trip To Jamaica

The momentum toward the May 5 release of INNOVA, the first new album in over three years from Fireflight, continues to build. This week the band declares “We Are Alive” with its new video and single from INNOVA. Produced by Phil Earnest, the “We Are Alive” video exclusively premieres today on Alternative Press at www.altpress.com/aptv/video/watch_fireflights_new_video_for_we_are_alive. Following the premiere, the video will be hosted on the band’s YouTube page and be available for music video shows everywhere.

“Life is precious. Every moment is another chance to thank God for the power and beauty that He surrounds us with and celebrate the miracle of His grace that has set us free,” says Fireflight lead singer and new mother, Dawn Michele, citing Colossians 3:1 as the inspiration for “We Are Alive.”

While the amped up energy of “We Are Alive” taps into the concept of community and the ability to build one another up, lead single “Resuscitate” stays true to the band’s heavy musical roots and has not only already sparked Fireflight’s eighth No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Christian Rock chart, but also continues to hold that top spot on the chart for its 12th consecutive week. Both songs are available now as instant downloads with a pre-order of INNOVA on iTunes or on PledgeMusic.com.

INNOVA is a masterful step forward utilizing the innovative tools available to established bands in 2015, while building on a storied history that includes a Grammy nomination, major festivals and nearly 400,000 albums sold. The female-vocal-driven, upbeat electro-pop anthems, moody industrial-tinged ballads and crowd-moving riffs found in INNOVA on songs like “Keep Fighting,” “We Are Alive,” “Lightning” and “Safety” (which features ANBERLIN’s Stephen Christian), is a modern take on a timeless alt-rock sound. Fans enamored by Imagine Dragons, Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry and the more adventurous post-Britpop of Coldplay, will all be invigorated by Fireflight‘s new album.

Fireflight built a fiercely devoted following across four albums pushed through the major label system, including The Healing Of Harms, Unbreakable, For Those Who Wait (which cracked Billboard‘s Top 100) and the No. 1 Christian Rock Album, Now, which surfaced in Spring 2012. The band relied on the same fans who gave them 13 million views on VEVO and No. 1 singles at specialty radio to create INNOVA, with a PledgeMusic campaign that hit 125% of its goal.

Band cofounders Dawn Michele (vocals), Wendy Drennen (bass, backing vocals), Glenn Drennen (guitar) and Adam McMillion (drums since 2011) chose 5/5/15 as the album’s release date for a number of significant reasons: it is Fireflight‘s fifth studio album, and is a celebration of their 15th year as a band.

Reflecting the new methods of crowd participation, INNOVA is also a bold creative leap. The album was crafted during a season of pain, uncertainty and frustration, broadening Fireflight‘s sound to exhilarating new heights without losing the core personal connection to their past.

INNOVA, which is Latin for ‘renew,’ is a really old word, but it sounds almost futuristic, as well,” Glenn explains. “It really told the story in one word of bridging what Fireflight has done in the past with our creative future.”

With the perspective that can only come from the beat keeper’s position, McMillion paints the most vivid picture of what INNOVA means to this veteran band and their compelling re-introduction: “Every night, I see a connection happening, then I hear the stories from many fans firsthand. We are real people who deeply care about the community within our fans. More than merely making a record we’re proud of, that’s the heart of what Fireflight means to us.”

While Fireflight’s touring will be quiet through the first quarter of 2015 as singer Dawn and her husband welcomed their first child this week, Glenn and Wendy, along with their four-year-old son Phoenix, have taken the opportunity to travel to Jamaica for a 10-day mission trip.

“In those 10 short days, we were able to get to know the lovely people of Pepper / St Elizabeth, Jamaica and help our friends prepare a building to open a mini-mart that will be a business opportunity, helping the community grow with provisions closer to home,” says Wendy. “This will not only provide job opportunities for the young guys we got to know while we were there, but will also provide a store close to home for the families of Pepper to purchase their basic food needs.”

While in Jamaica, the couple also spent time with local children, teaching them games, guitar basics, giving some of the girls manicures and pedicures, and more. (See images from Jamaica below.)

Christian Hip Hop Artist FLAME Releases Book

Clear Sight Music (St. Louis, MO): Christian Hip Hop artist FLAME releases his first book titled, ALL IN. It is a Christian living book geared toward young adults. The theme ‘all in’ is a metaphor to describe one’s full commitment to God. The book begins with a Foreword written by pastor and author, Thabiti Anyabwile. An endorsement by Russell Moore, President of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, states “Flame is one of the most theologically rooted and creatively dynamic artists in North America today. In this book, Flame calls us to a life of obedient commitment to Christ. The book will challenge you with the Word of the Kingdom and will prompt you toward wisdom as to how to walk in a whole new way.”

When discussing the purpose of the book, Flame states, “I’m very excited about the book and pray that God uses it to impact people in a way where it creates a desire to be ‘all in’ for Him. I believe we have returned to a place where we need to revisit what it means to live ‘all in’ for God’s glory. I wrote this book to paint a picture for the reader about what it looks like to be ‘all in’ the gospel, at school, in the workplace, in your relationships, and with your personal integrity. The book doesn’t call us to perfectionism, but rather toward commitment and pursuit of God’s glory knowing that it is only through His grace that we are even able to live ‘all in.’ My hope is that the book will offer helpful insights into your life’s journey whether you’re meeting God for the first time or have been walking with Him for years.”

JW Clarke, Jr. from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association states “Flame is an important leader and communicator for this generation, explaining clearly in these pages God’s plan for us to glorify Him by choosing to live ALL IN. You will find encouragement and instruction to help you grow in your existing walk or find hope in Jesus for the first time. This book, easy to understand and apply, clearly outlines steps to grow and apply your faith.”

The book ends with an Afterword written by Dan DeWitt, Dean of Boyce College. He describes the book as “a practical guide to living like Jesus written by a man who practice what he preaches. Pick this up if you’re ready to consider what it means to say yes to Jesus no matter what the cost.”

14 Sellouts for Sidewalk Prophets’ Great Big Family Room Tour

SIDEWALK PROPHETS
GREAT BIG FAMILY ROOM TOUR
SELLS OUT 14 SHOWS

STRIKES CHORD WITH CONCERT-GOERS AND CRITICS

March 24, Nashville, TN – Halfway in to one of the most unique tours of 2015, Fervent Records and Dove Award winning artist, Sidewalk Prophets, has sold-out 14 of 18 shows on their current Great Big Family Room tour. The unconventional tour, which has covered 8,000 miles and made its way to 11 states has several components built in to the overall experience with the goal of connecting with fans and concert-goers as personally and authentically as possible.

“Our hope is that each person who comes to this tour leaves feeling like they are loved, that they have a purpose and that they are a vitally important part of our family,” says lead vocalist Dave Frey.

“So far, we’ve personally greeted and ushered in 10,000 concert-goers and handed out over 10,000 bags of Groovy Pop Popcorn (groovypopcorn.com),” adds band member Ben McDonald.

In addition to greeting guests at the door, the band is also engaging with fans in a VIP Pizza Party, presented by NewReleaseTuesday.com.

“So far, the tour has been an intimate, yet raucous celebration,” Dave continues. “I seriously haven’t had as much fun on stage in my life. Interacting before the show with pizza party goers, inviting all into the family room and having a blast all night long, it feels like a get together with our closest friends.”

That sentiment is being shared by concert-goers and critics alike.

Mary Farrell of New Lenox, Illinois was greeted at the door by the band. “It was a very nice touch,” says Farrell, admitting she didn’t even realize it was the band at first. “It’s not something you’re used to–seeing the band before the show.”

In a concert review on ChicagoNow.com, Kris Pasquini writes,”I’m never sure what to expect from an acoustic show, but this one far surpassed my imagination. While I liked Sidewalk Prophets music before, I now feel like I better know the band and more of what they’re about.”

Sidewalk is not only interacting with the audience before and after the show; the concert itself is veritably a dialogue between the band and the audience. Between sharing new music from their forthcoming album (TBA) and discussing the work of the Mocha Club (themochaclub.org), a non-profit organization currently raising funds for the Congo, the band encourages the audience to engage in every aspect of the experience. Thus far, 350 concert-goers have joined Mocha Club to aid the effort.

Ticket prices begin at $10 with various add-ons available. Tickets are available online only or General Admission tickets may be purchased at the door on show days. Learn more and purchase tickets here:

MORE INFORMATION ON UNITED AND EMPIRES
Joel Houston, UNITED’s lead shares about the upcoming album’s theme, “EMPIRES is the story of two worlds. We wanted to create songs that first seek to listen, then speak the good news of Jesus and His grace into the dichotomy, tension and hopeful-collision of this broken and fragile world we see here and now, and the unshakeable and mysterious reality of the Kingdom we can’t see. Our desire has been to simply create the most honest project we could.”
This release follows the band’s largest growth and international impact in over the last two years. With the 2013 release of ZION, UNITED’s notoriety increased with their No. 1 single “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” as it became a RIAA Platinum certified single. This was the group’s first No.1 radio song, cracking the longest reign on Billboard’s airplay/sales/streaming-based Hot Christian Songs chart.
In 2014, UNITED was award five GMA Dove Awards including the coveted Artist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Oceans.” They were also nominated for their first American Music Award. Hillsong was included in 10 of Billboard’s End of Year charts topping five of the charts: Top Christian Artists, Hot Christian Songs, Hot Christian Songs Artists, Christian Airplay Artists and Christian Digital Songs.
UNITED is a worship band that originally rose out of the youth ministry of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia. This progressive worship band is a global recording and touring entity sent out to share the ever-evolving worship music of Hillsong Church to an international audience through live performances and records. Releasing their first album in 1999, UNITED has toured six continents and more than 40 nations since 2006. The touring entity of UNITED has made a huge wave in the United States as they became the first Christian artist to ever sell out Los Angeles’ Staples Center. In addition to the Staples Center, UNITED has also sold out major venues in Seattle (ShoWare Center), New York (Radio City Music Hall – Hillsong Conference), Denver (Red Rocks Amphitheatre) and Los Angeles (Hollywood Bowl).

FIREFLIGHT LEAD SINGER DAWN MICHELE WELCOMES FIRST BABY

Fireflight Touring Set To Resume Following May 5 Release of 5th Album, INNOVA

Lead Single, “Resuscitate,” Continues At No. 1 For 12th Consecutive Week

Fireflight’s lead singer Dawn Michele and her husband, musician Matt Lott, celebrate the birth of their first baby. Johnny Scott Danger Lott was born in Albuquerque yesterday (3/23/15) at 12:21 pm MDT, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 19½ inches long.

“Meet Johnny Scott Danger Lott. This is the best day of my life!” tweets Dawn and sharing the photo (right) on Instagram and Facebook. “Your prayers made it possible. I love you all!”

While Dawn enjoys her time as a first-time mother, Fireflight’s touring remains quiet. All that is about to change though with the band preparing for its highly-anticipated and first new album in over three years, INNOVA.

INNOVA is a masterful step forward utilizing the innovative tools available to established bands in 2015, while building on a storied history that includes a Grammy nomination, major festivals and nearly 400,000 albums sold. After building a fiercely devoted following across four albums pushed through the major label system, including The Healing Of Harms, Unbreakable, For Those Who Wait (which cracked Billboard‘s Top 100) and the No. 1 Christian Rock album, Now, which surfaced in Spring 2012, Fireflight releases INNOVA independently through The Fuel Music May 5, 2015. Refined during a season of pain, uncertainty and frustration, the album stretches the limits of the band’s art, reinventing itself while continuing to connect with its fans on a personal level.

Remarkably, INNOVA has not only already sparked Fireflight’s eighth No. 1 hit on Billboard’s Christian Rock chart, but lead single “Resuscitate” continues to hold that top spot on the chart for its 12th consecutive week.

Offering music fans a further glimpse into the new recording, the band’s debut Hot AC/CHR single from INNOVA, “We Are Alive,” is at radio now. While “Resuscitate” stays true to the band’s heavy musical roots, the amped up energy of “We Are Alive” taps into the concept of community and the ability to build one another up. Both songs are available now as instant downloads with a pre-order of INNOVA on iTunes or on PledgeMusic.com.

Joanne Cash Continues the Cash Family Legacy with Release of Star-Studded Duets Album on April 1st

Joanne Cash Continues the Cash Family Legacy with Release of Star-Studded Duets Album on April 1st

Legendary Gospel artist Joanne Cash, the little sister of Johnny Cash, duets with some of her famous friends on new album, Breaking Down the Barriers

(NASHVILLE, Tennessee) — Gospel music legend Joanne Cash, sister of country music icon Johnny Cash, will release her latest album, Breaking Down the Barriers, on April 1st. The star-studded duets album from Nashville-based indie label Proverbial Excellence will be available in stores and at all digital retailers including iTunes and Amazon, distributed by Elevate Entertainment and Syntax Distribution.

On Breaking Down the Barriers, Joanne teamed up with many of her famous friends for a collection of 14 duets that are firmly planted in Gospel. Fans of the Cash family will be thrilled to find duet’s with Rosanne Cash and Tommy Cash, in addition to contributions from iconic country artists Larry Gatlin, T. Graham Brown, The Fox Brothers, Razzy Bailey, George Hamilton IV and Riders in the Sky’s Ranger Doug and Christian rockers Kevin Max (dcTalk, Audio Adrenaline), Dan Haseltine (Jars of Clay), Rick Florian (Whiteheart) and John Schlitt (Petra).

Country music fans will take particular interest in two tracks on the new album, due to their historical significance. The lyrics for the Tommy Cash duet, “My Lord Has Gone,” were written by Joanne and Tommy’s brother Johnny Cash, who passed away before he had the chance to record it. On the song “On The Rock Where Moses Stood,” Joanne duets with legendary country artist George Hamilton IV, in what turned out to be his final recording. Hamilton died unexpectedly in September.

“These sessions, often done in Joanne’s home, pair Joanne with artists from all walks of life and genres,” says producer Chad Randall Crow. “Each of these songs was hand-picked for this inspirational work. Like her brother’s American Recordings sessions, these performances will stand the test of time.”

As the younger sister of Johnny Cash, Joanne Cash has certainly made her way in the music industry. With 30 albums, the 2013 docufilm, Joanne Cash: I Do Believe, her acclaimed autobiography, My Fears Are Gone, and continuous concert appearances, the singer/songwriter is driven by a deeper sense of eternal purpose. Says Joanne, “I’m amazed that at my age I still want to sing, but it’s like therapy for me. Johnny always helped me remember that and he was constantly encouraging. But there was one short phrase from Johnny that’s always stuck with me and it’s one I’ll continue for as long as I’m here, ‘Baby, just keep on singing!’”

Joanne grew up in Dyess, Arkansas, where some of her earliest Cash family memories include singing spiritual standards in the cotton fields and laying on the living room floor listening to gospel and country music – scenes that would eventually be played out in the box office smash, I Walk the Line. Joanne found a musical calling in the 1970s while working at House of Cash, Johnny’s famed recording studio, office space and musical museum. She sang at the Grand Ole Opry from 1972-1976 with Jimmy Rodgers Snow’s Grand Ole Gospel Time. During that era, Joanne met her husband Dr. Harry Yates, and the couple soon dedicated themselves to full time music ministry, traveling the country for fifteen years of full time preaching and singing the gospel. When they came off the road in 1990, the couple founded Nashville Cowboy Church, where Joanne continues to sing every Sunday. In addition, Joanne continues to tour worldwide, and hosts a Tuesday night residency at the Wyndham Vacation Resort in Nashville, where she shares a variety of original and gospel/country covers, plus tidbits of the Cash family testimony.

NO “SHADES OF GREY” WITH PORNOGRAPHY– ONLY BLACK & WHITE SAYS GRAMMY AWARD WINNER REBECCA ST. JAMES

NO “SHADES OF GREY” WITH PORNOGRAPHY– ONLY BLACK & WHITE SAYS GRAMMY AWARD WINNER REBECCA ST. JAMES

NEW FICTION OFFERS INSPIRATION IN THE FACE OF RISING CULTURE OF ‘ACCEPTABLE  PORN’

(Nashville, Tennessee) –March 10, 2015) –Against the backdrop of the recent box office tidal wave of media coverage and audiences for “Fifty Shades of Grey,” the film adaptation of British author E.L. James’ blockbuster book trilogy, “acceptable porn” is infiltrating as never before our daily conversations, cultural outlook—and too often personal relationships–says Christian Grammy  Award winner and best-selling author, Rebecca St. James.

Long an outspoken media voice for’ faith and values’ issues, St, James is talking this week about her own just released new book, hitting bookshelves this week.

The book, “One Last Thing,”   brings  readers another view of pornography—this one the fictional recount of a young couple whose relationship is tragically shattered by hidden addiction.

“There is no ‘grey ‘area,” noted St. James in a recent interview. “Pornography is an issue that unfortunately ultimately ends up bringing abuse of women into an arena of being more openly acceptable.By calling it what it is, we know that pornography is an abuse of women that causes them to be objectified and often leads to violence in real life.  Unfortunately, films like “Fifty Shades of Grey” bring abuse out of the shadows and make it seem normal or even desirable and intriguing, creating even more of a lure in today’s culture.”

Statistics prove her point to be valid. In a recent study published by the Huffington Post, porn sites now reportedly get more visitors each month than Netflix, Amazon, and Twitter combined—more than 450 million unique visitors monthly.  Now a 13 billion dollar a year industry, more than 30% of internet bandwidth is devoted to pornography, with an estimated 70% of men and 30% of women admitting to regularly viewing online.  The initial age of exposure is now 11 with 90% of teens saying they have viewed sexually explicit materials, a statistic St. James finds particularly troubling.

She feels that her teaming with co-author Nancy Rue on the new book offers inspirational content that will encourage and empower readers to handle the real life challenges of pornography that are daily at hand.
