Grant Defies Current Market Trends With Her Best Sales Debut To Date

Natalie Grant’s ‘Be One’ made Curb Records history yesterday as it debuted #1 on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums Chart and SoundScan’s Adult Contemporary Albums and Contemporary Christian Albums charts. In addition, Grant claimed the #2 position on Billboard’s overall Christian & Gospel Albums chart and #28 on the Billboard 200.

The four-time Grammy nominee and five-time “Female Vocalist of the Year” Dove Award winner’s title track, and current radio single, is also #15 on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart this week and is also week’s greatest gainer on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs digital sales chart.

‘Be One’ is Grant’s second #1 debut on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart (‘Hurricane’ debuted #1 on 11.2.2013) and her highest career sales debut, with higher first-week scans than ‘Hurricane’ in a market reflecting a decrease in album sales.

Grant attributes this week’s debut success to a vibrant relationship with her online community, consistent touring and the support of Christian radio.

“I am grateful and humbled that this new music is being so well received. I was overwhelmingly compelled to write these songs and to know that they are connecting with people is an answer to prayer,” shares Grant from her home in Nashville.

‘Be One’ is the Seattle-born, Nashville-based singer and songwriter’s ninth career album and was produced by husband, Bernie Herms (Barbra Streisand, Josh Groban) and recorded in their home studio in Nashville, TN. The 11-track collection features the vocals of Grant’s brother Steve, and Grant’s daughters Grace, Bella (twins, 8) and Sadie (4).

The chorus to “Be One” summarized the album’s theme perfectly: “Why sit around and wait for a miracle to come when you can be one.” It’s that empowering perspective that helped Grant overcome her battle with depression and lose 40 pounds over the course of the last 18 months — unveiled on the August 17th cover of “First For Women” magazine — and it’s that perspective she wants to bring to others who are struggling in their own lives, helping them to overcome guilt and worry and be the people they’re truly meant to be.

Grant evokes that same passion in her work with Hope for Justice, an organization she founded as Abolition International in 2005 with the goal of restoring children who are victims of sex trafficking. She dedicates a portion of the proceeds from her jewelry line, NG by Natalie Grant, to Hope for Justice, and each piece of custom designed jewelry contains a message designed to uplift and inspire. Over the course of her 16-year career, Grant has seen the results of her commitment. Her previous eight albums have netted a total of 25 Dove Award nominations (and eight wins), and she has received four Grammy nominations, including one for her last #1 album ‘Hurricane.’ ‘Be One’ is Grant’s most transparent album to date, one designed to bring a message of hope and light to listeners everywhere.

Nashville, Tenn. (November 23, 2015) —- Centricity Music announced today the signing of veteran group, JJ Weeks Band. The group’s debut full-length album is being  produced by Jonathan Smith (Tim Timmons, Mia Fieldes) and will release early April 2016, with the first single going for adds at radio in February. The Macon, GA based band is comprised of lead singer/songwriter JJ Weeks, bassist David Hart, drummer Jon Poole and guitarist Cody Preston.

JJ Weeks Band has been performing together for 12 years and has released five independent albums. The sixth project, All Over The World, was the first national label record that released in 2013, and the second single, “Let Them See You,” ranked No. 9 on the 2014 Billboard Hot Christian Songs chart and remained on Billboard’s National Audience Chart for 29 weeks. The seasoned musicians have built a loyal following of fans by touring over 120 dates a year across the country and has toured with Winter Jam Spectacular, MercyMe, Unspoken, among many others. At the same time, the band has been able to branch out with its music being featured in the major motion picture, God’s Not Dead. The bridge from the song “Screaming Outloud” was used in the movie, and the tune “Save Us” was featured on the God’s Not Dead soundtrack.

Southern Rockers Give Back This Christmas With Free Holiday Tour In Effort to Help ChildFund
Los Angeles, Calif. (November 19, 2016)— Last week, Southern pop/rockers Consumed By Fire debuted their first EP Lean On Me with Inpop Records and with the success of the title-track, they are proving to be a force to be reckoned with.

“Lean On Me” was recently added to radio and has already landed within the top 25 on the National Audience Chart. Watch the official lyric video here.

The hit single was inspired by the brother trio’s involvement with ChildFund International, an organization that aims to help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children have the capacity to improve their lives and the opportunity to become to young adults, parents and leaders who bring lasting and positive change in their communities.

“With all the ministry trips we have taken, we have seen the struggles that our brothers and sisters in the faith go through both in Africa and in our own neighborhoods,” explains Jordan.  “The Apostle Paul calls us into action in Galatians by saying: ‘carry each other’s burdens, and in this way we fulfill the law of Christ’. So because of this, we can’t just dismiss the issues because they “aren’t happening here or to me.”  We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus – so we should all make this our anthem and sing out with compassion, ‘When you don’t have a home  – you can lean on me.’

It is this message that Josh, Jordan and Caleb Ward are extending to others this Christmas. On November 28 in Covington, OH, Consumed By Fire will embark on its family-friendly Christmas tour that will be free of charge for concertgoers and will give people the opportunity to sponsor a child through ChildFund. For every child sponsored, the recipient will receive a gift from the band in return filled with over $200 of merchandise and goods.

“We know finances are tight around Christmas for everyone and we want to give families something to do together that doesn’t break the bank,” explains Jordan. “My brothers and I are very blessed to live the life we lead, so if we can help others this Christmas, whether it’s helping grow their family with a child through ChildFund or taking their minds off of the pressures of life for a little while through a concert; if families leave changed and walk away with a new joy they didn’t have before, then we have done what we set out to do.”

The EP includes four songs that will also be featured on their forthcoming full-length album, tentatively titled Giving Over that is set to release in spring of 2016.

Grammy and Dove-nominated rock band Decyfer Down is laying the foundation for its first full-length studio album in over two years, The Other Side Of Darkness, set to release independently early 2016 through The Fuel Music.

 

Returning to its indie roots after a decade of touring and three acclaimed label releases, the band, collectively Brandon Mills and Chris Clonts (guitars), TJ Harris (vocals/guitar), Benjamin Millhouse (drums) and Chris Furr (bass), is reveling in its newfound freedom to write, record, release and perform new music. Nashville, Tenn. (November 18, 2015) —- CCM artists, Jaime Jamgochian and Tyrus Morgan, are once again teaming up and this time the duo will release a six-song EP, Christmastime, on November 20th. Produced by Morgan and Jay Speight, the project features three Christmas classics (with new arrangements) and three original songs that were co-written by Jamgochian, Morgan and Speight. A bundle of three songs is going for adds at Christian radio with “Angels We Have Heard On High,” the title track and “12 Days Of Christmas – How I want to Sing,” which was one of last year’s surprise breakout singles at AC radio. In support of the new project, Jamgochian and Morgan will join Jamison Strain on his Wonder Of Christmas Tour during December. About Jaime Jamgochian
Jaime Jamgochian hails from Boston, MA and accepted Christ while attending college at Berklee College of Music, before moving to Seattle, WA to serve as a worship leader at one of the area churches. It was during this time that Jamgochian moved to Nashville and became the anchor artist for Centricity Music. She released four projects and had several hit singles, including the 12-week No. 1 song “Hear My Worship.” She was with the label for 10 years before striking out on her own as an independent artist. Jamgochian has led worship at churches around the world and has shared the stage with such Christian mainstays as Point Of Grace, Mark Schultz, Francesca Battistelli and Jason Gray. Tyrus Morgan is a Kansas native who had a passion for playing baseball while in high school, but once he inherited his grandfather’s guitar there was no turning back from music. He started playing in local bands while in college and it was after graduation that Morgan made his way to Nashville. He started out the same way several artists and songwriters do in Music City by holding down two jobs; his day gig of advertising that paid the bills and his passion at night of songwriting. Heeding his faith calling, Morgan began his full-time music ministry 18 months after moving to Nashville, which eventually led to signing with Curb Records and releasing his first radio hit, “Song to the Savior.” Morgan has also written hit singles for other artists that include “Good Fight” by Unspoken and Newsong’s “The Same God.” Morgan is married with two daughters and a son.

Andrew Peterson to Launch 16th Annual Behold The Lamb Of God Christmas Tour with Special Guest Cindy Morgan
Nashville, Tenn. (November 16, 2015) —- The Christmas season heralds one of the most popular holiday events, Andrew Peterson’s 16th annual Behold the Lamb of God Tour. The 15-city tour will launch December 2nd in Evansville, IN and will conclude December 20th in Austin, TX. It will once again include two shows at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. Joining the tour for the first time this year is the Grammy and Dove Award-winning artist Cindy Morgan, as well as special guest Josh Garrels performing at the two Nashville dates. Other featured artists include Jill Phillips and Andy Gullahorn, as well as a stellar band including Gabe Scott, Ben Shive, Joe Causey, Todd Bragg, Claire Indie Nunn, Nate Dugger and Garett Buell. 
“I wouldn’t have had the guts to dream sixteen years ago that this tour would still be happening,” says Peterson. “The fact that it’s with so many good, old friends who are such great performers, all in the name of retelling the Gospel story, makes me overwhelmingly grateful.”
Peterson launched the Christmas tour in 2000 to present a musical rendition of the Christmas story and to reinforce the true meaning of the season. It was immediately embraced by fans nationwide because of the powerful performances, entertaining stories, and the sense of community between Peterson and his guest artists. The result was multiple sold-out venues and yearly return engagements. In 2004, fan support led Peterson to record the album, Behold The Lamb Of God: The True Tall Tale Of The Coming Of Christ, and the project won the 2004 Best Album of the Year from the World Christian Music Editor’s Award and was named by Rhapsody as one of the ten best Christian albums of the decade. In 2009, Peterson released a 2-disc 10th Anniversary Edition of the project that includes a remastered version of the original CD and a live recording of the concert.
Peterson’s new studio album, The Burning Edge Of Dawn, debuted No. 2 on Billboard Current Contemporary Christian Top Albums Chart and marks the highest chart debut of his career. Produced by Gabe Scott, the record features 10 new songs and has received rave reviews from several media outlets with CCM Magazine praising its “powerful analogies of God and a God-ward faith,” New Release Today calling it “an artistic feat,” and Phantom Tollbooth hailing it as “supremely up-lifting.”
Peterson will return for his third appearance on the Grand Ole Opry stage on Saturday, November 21st. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 16, 2015) – Internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter and classically trained violinist Jean Watson will unveil her beautiful new music video “Together Now” today, Monday, November 15, 2015, exclusively on the popular website, NewReleaseToday.com. The new music video release is in support of her recently released CD, Steady My Gaze, which hit stores on October 9, 2015, through Shadowlands Music and New Day Distribution.

“I am thrilled that NewReleaseToday will be debuting the “Together Now” video that features guest vocals by my friend John Ellis of Tree63,” says Watson. “It is a light-hearted song about the joy of relationship with God and with each other, and the video really captures that joy!”

This marks the second opportunity users of NewReleaseToday have to experience “Together Now.” The music discovery website previously offered a free digital download of Watson’s song, which features guest vocals from Tree63 lead singer John Ellis.

About Steady My Gaze:
Steady My Gaze features an abundance of Celtic-infused violin, Watson’s signature haunting vocals, along with the special treat of stellar fret-work from master guitarist, Phil Keaggy and guest vocals from Tree63’s John Ellis.

“I chose Steady My Gaze for the title of my new CD because it reflects my desire to keep my heart focused on the Lord, no matter what is going on,” Watson explains. “The songs on this project express my love for God through passionate words and music! The arrangements are energetic and fresh, and Phil Keaggy’s guitar playing is simply amazing. Having John Ellis of Tree63 sing on one of the songs was such an honor, and Billy Smiley did an amazing job as producer. I hope this new music is as encouraging and fun to listen to as it was for me to make!”
Listeners are immediately greeted by the album’s opener, the joyful, exuberant pop confessional, “Overcome,” as Watson’s fetching vocals are embellished by understated beckoning drums and meandering electronic keys. The joy continues with the driving rhythms and uplifting message of “Together Now,” which features Watson and Tree63’s John Ellis playing tag-team on the lead vocals. The high energy subsides for the more subdued yet equally passionate, acoustic ballad, “Impossibly Beautiful.”
The gentle, bluegrass-tinged title track gives Watson room to expand her emotion-laden vocals as she encourages listeners to allow Christ the freedom to live, move, breathe and come alive in their lives. “Steady My Gaze” segues effortlessly into the sweetly evocative piano ballad, “Speeding Train,” which also features Keaggy’s lush guitar. Watson downshifts to the haunting, introspective, yet encouraging, “I’ll Find You There.”

Watson’s innate energy once again explodes with tightly-focused control on the rocking “Burning Desire.” She continues to channel that control on the gently driving “Against Your Love.” The music takes a delightful, unexpected turn as Watson wraps her signature vocals around the beloved classic hymn, “Be Thou My Vision.” She imbues the song with rich textures and embellishments, making it truly her own.

Joy takes center stage on Watson’s updated, up-tempo version of “Lord of the Dance,” but it is peace that settles over the project’s concluding contemporary hymn, “Trust His Hands.” She closes the project with a lovely, worship-filled acoustic version of “Overcome” that features her own pristine violin and acoustic guitar from Keaggy.

Watson shared songs from Steady My Gaze as the musical guest for Christian Retailing‘s Best Awards during the recent International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Orlando, Florida, eliciting an outpouring of accolades from fans and industry insiders alike.
