Reviews Page These are two of the CD's that I picked up while at Lifest. Together they represent the diversity that was present for the event. Reviews for many of the other Lifest performers can be found at www.alphaomeganews.org/reviews.html
Stand Band leader Denver Bierman leads the Mile High Orchestra track after track of vintage big band music. Combining the late 20's - early 30's style of scat, swing, and jazz. A rare combination in christian music, reviving a genre from the past. Although the music is fun and entertaining, the heart of it is in worship. Lyrically, "Stand" is as praise and worship as Sonicflood or Third Day. While performing live, Denver enjoys leading worship as he feels his calling is to minister through his music. "Stand", "Solid Rock", and "Delivered" are fine examples of this eclectic style being used to lift up the name of Jesus. Something this different and this good is truly "new" and "fresh". So swing over to www.denvermho.com, and skip around this jazzy site! -Ken W.
Twelve:12 Lifest had diversity that's for sure, from the swing dance to the head bangers ball. Twelve:12 drops into that second category quite easily. Hailing from Madison, WI this quartet ranges in ages between the 20 something to 50! Their placement in the music world couldn't be more perfect. In a town that has a dominant metal radio station and more than enough clubs to go around, Twelve:12 will surely have an impact. An impact that may even go beyond their own understanding. Playing in both church venues and the local clubs Twelve:12 rocks for Christ. "Truth to True Needs" best explains (or defends) the need to be ministering to club audiences. Summarizing the need to spread the love where it is needed and at the same time speak the truth about salvation. It's amazing how Twelve:12 can mix edifying lyrics with that "dark" melodic head banging sound. Bang over to www.twelve12.org and discover more about the band and it's mission. -Ken W.
