Lifest Journal Day Four 13 July 2003 Sunday starts off with an awesome time of worship, special music, and sermons. Both Bob Lenz and Reggie Dabbs gave a team sermon. It was very emotional and heartfelt as they spoke about personal losses. The point of the whole sermon came across very strong; you can't get to heaven by being good enough, going to church, or by having knowledge of the bible. You go to heaven by grace, through faith, like the Word of God says in Ephesians 2:8. After the worship service I went back to the camp site and packed up the car. Then I headed off to The Edge to see Brave Saint Saturn play. From there I went to the Java Cafe where comedian Bob Smiley was giving an unscheduled performance. Bob is an extremely funny man and can relate childhood stories and bible stories to any audience. And at the same time he is entertaining people he is also giving a testimony, or preaching (for lack of a better word) the gospel. Following Bob Smiley at the Cafe was singer songwriter Jeni Varnadeau. She did an acoustic set with one accompanying guitarist. Jeni managed to get the crowd involved by teaching them a quick line dance. The audience enjoyed dancing with her as she sang "Dancing Here With Me." After a quick snack I headed down to the Grandstand to take some pictures of Stacie Orrico. As she walked on stage I heard several gasps from the groups of girls around me. I don't want to be mean but if I had a best dressed - worse dressed contest she would have fit into the latter category. I listened to a few songs including "Stuck" and then I exited to the camp site to gather up the troops and head out. The drive back with Kevin and Johnny went much quicker than the trip up, as there were fewer detours and delays. In the end, Lifest 2003 was an exciting experience that was both entertaining, and spiritually uplifting. |
