Lifest Artist SpotlightMegan RobersonKen - Can you give us a little history of yourself? Megan - I was born in Alabama and lived there for the first twelve years of my life. I started casually singing at age two and at the age of nine I started traveling with my music ministry. My mom, dad, and sister were very supportive of it and they always followed me around. They were there for me when I needed them. When I was twelve we moved to Nashville, TN. I got hooked up with Jaci Velasquez's band and they did all my music for my second project. Her lead guitar player, Nick Gonzoles wrote and produced the "Awe and Wonder" CD. That was the latest one I released. Since then I went to New York and created three demos that are going towards the third CD. Ken - How old are you now? Megan - I'm sixteen. Ken - Describe your parents involvement a little bit. Megan - My dad does my sound and he knows me very well, he knows all my clues and hints as to when to start the music . My mom helps with bookings, and she does basically anything else I need; outfits, help with getting ready, little things like that. My little sister she comes and she helps with whatever she can. Her and my mom run the lights together too. Ken - Big family affair? Megan - Oh yes! Ken - How much energy does this take to do this? Megan - A lot of energy! At times all the energy I have, but it's definitely worth it. I love doing it and I feel like it's my gift from God and I want to give it back. It can take all the energy I have but I still love it. Ken - How do you maintain your spiritual welfare? Megan - I try to have my quiet time every day with God, read my Bible, and pray a lot. There certainly are trials being independent and doing what we do. My family goes through it with me as well and we just try to stay strong as a family together. We go to church every chance we get at our home church. Ken - What kind of music do you perform? Megan - I do a wide variety of music; pop, dance-techno, some more rock. I can do just about any style you wanted. I getting into doing a little more urban sounding stuff which I love to do. It's a big variety but I really enjoy it. Ken - Are you getting involved more in the writing process? Megan - I am writing a lot more lately. I wrote my first song when I was about eight years old and it was put on my first CD when I was ten. Ken - Is there music in the family? Megan - There is NOT music in the family (laughingly). I am the only one in my family that really has musical ability, but of course my parents have always try to help when they can. Ken - Do you see that you have more of an impact on younger females? Megan - I have had a good impact on young girls because I can relate with them on so many issues, being a teenager myself. There is so much that they want to talk about and it can be issues about abstinence, drugs, or temptations. I have a good time talking to them and being able to encourage them. Ken - What direction are you looking to take? Are you looking to do this independently forever or are you looking for a label? Megan - I would love to have a label because I realize that being independent a lot of times will get you so far. Of course I want to go as far as God wants me to go, but I would love to have a label because it could open so many more venues and doors. It's going to be in God's timing and it will come along when He wants it to. If not, then I'm going to be happy doing what I'm doing.
Megan Roberson Independent Megan has been performing since she was nine years old, and at the age of thirteen she recorded "Awe and Wonder." Megan's blend of pop/rock on "Awe and Wonder" is just the beginning of her talents. She has recorded a few demo songs including a more techno type song. This particular CD was produced by Nickolas Gonzalez, Jaci Velasquez's lead guitar player. Megan is a powerful vocalist with a charming personality. She is goal orientated and biblically guided. "Awe and Wonder" is a warm CD that on occasion gets moving enough to raise a few hairs. For more information check out www.meganr.com. - Ken W. |
