November 2000Intermission - The Greatest Hits dc Talk Forefront dc Talk has been very busy lately with touring, and helping with the "Jesus Freaks" book recently released. The band also has under its belt two of the biggest selling CD's, Jesus Freaks and Supernatural. This Greatest Hits CD is a great addition to the collection of dc Talk releases. Some of the great songs include "Jesus Is Just Alright", "Jesus Freaks", and "Supernatural". Also you will find the interesting drops-ins by Mr. and Mrs. Morgan. "Intermission" also includes two new tracks "Chance" and "Sugarcoat It". For the parents: dc Talk has performed for the Billy Graham crusade. "Jesus Freaks" the book contains stories of martyrs from all ages. To find out more about the book check out www.jesusfreaks.net. If you're at home with a slow modem be ready to practice your patience. Flash is great, but on a modem it can be time consuming.
A Christmas Reunion Various Artist Reunion Records "A Christmas Reunion" introduces the newest member of Reunion, Joy Williams. Joy sings "2000 Decembers Ago" with an enchanting voice that tugs at the heart cords. Kathy Troccoli and Andy Williams perform a big band rendition of "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year", while Gary Chapman serves up a serene "O Holy Night". Also on the CD; Michael W. Smith, New Song, Rich Mullins, Clay Crosse and Dino, Fred Hammond and RFC, Bryan Duncan, and 4 Him. On top of the great CCM artist there are five bonus instrumentals on the CD. Making it a well rounded collection of Christmas tunes. -Ken Wiegman Freedom Michael W. Smith Reunion Records Michael W. Smith once said, "Words can be life changing, but sometimes it only takes the power of a melody." The power of the melodies in Michael W. Smith's newest release, "Freedom," could very well change one's life. Words like "moving, expressive, peaceful," are what come to mind when one hears this new release. For those who own Michael W. Smith's previous album, "This Is Your Time," the last track on that album (an instrumental to "This Is Your Time") is merely a sneak preview to what "Freedom" is composed of. Michael W. Smith has truly outdone himself on this cd. His instrumentals on this album touch base on a wide variety of moods, from quiet moments exuding peace & tranquility, to startling battle scenes. One particular favorite is the piece, "Carol Ann," a dedication to a friend of Michael W. Smith who died recently in a tragic horseback riding accident. This song reminds us all of one big point, Earth is not home. As Michael stated, "We're just passing through." Those who like Celtic music will be quite pleased with this album. There is a definite flavor of Celtic overtones. Michael W. Smith has many God-given talents, this is a perfect example of that. It's wonderful to see such a talented man using his gifts in a way that would inspire others. Set yourself free; add the album "Freedom" to your collection! Ephesians 3:12 NIV - In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. -Bridget K. These Days Sandi Patty Word Sandi Patty returns to the business with a resounding voice. These Days is a collection of songs that reflect on her life, and the everyday pressures of time. Sandi states; "It is about finding those few quiet minuets with the Lord; that oasis in the midst of the craziness of life." Sandi had some help on this project. Singing a duet with Latin star, Miguel Guerra, on "Solo El Amor/Only Love", co-writing "All This Time (Anna's Song)" with Cindy Morgan, and on the same title backing vocals by Michelle Tumes. In its entirety These Days is a celebration of life, an inspiration to sing "One More Song" for the Father. -Ken The Mercy Project Word The Mercy Project is all about love and hope. This CD was made with a great cause in mind. This cause is a nonprofit organization called "Mercy Ministries of America". Mercy Ministries provides an unconditional loving home for troubled girls. All over America there are teens who are deeply hurting and have nowhere to turn. They hunger for a genuine love and end up turning to a dark world that harms them. Mercy Ministries provides a safe haven full of unconditional love. "The Mercy Project" not only makes others aware of the great needs of America's youth, but all the proceeds benefit this great outreach that touches countless young lives. Everyone who participated in the making of this release gave their time and talent. The producers/songwriters Jeff and Gayla Borders carefully chose specific female artists for each song. Many well-known artists had a part such as Donna Summer, Amy Grant, Martina McBride and others include Point of Grace, Kim Hill, Lisa Bevill, Michelle Tumes, Darlene Zshech, April McLean, and Christene Dente. The first time I listened to this CD I fell in love with it. It sends an essential message of hope and new life. The soaring ballads empathize with all who are drowning in sorrow and who feel there is no one who understands. The uplifting songs give an answer for those searching. There has been such a need for a CD just as this one to give an awareness that someone does care. All who are troubled and going through trials will be deeply touched by every song. -Ellen |
