Invitation To Eavesdrop
Rocketown Records has an extremely successful track record when it comes
to releasing new artists. Watermark and Chris Rice both received nominations
for New Artists of the year, and Ginny Owens brought home the Dove for
New Artists in 2000.
Continuing with that success Rocktown introduces it's first new artists
since 1999 with Shaun Groves. Shaun fits well into the Rocketown mold
as a singer-songwriter, and Invitation To Eavesdrop is pleasantly
diverse, ranging from exciting guitar-rock to mellow piano ballads.
Shaun wrote all the songs on Invitation. Many of the songs were written
for the purpose of drawing listeners to Christ and the promise of hope
and redemption. In a news release producer, Monroe Jones, commented on
Invitation, "It's edgy and passionate, yet very melodic; and its lyrics
point straight to Christ. It shows the heart of the artist, and his desire
to glorify God."
Top hits include "Satellite," penned from Shaun's experiences with discipling
youth, simply stating that our place with God is like a satellite, with
God in the center and not us. "Satellite" is one of the more edgy rock
tunes on the CD. More relaxed is "Your Renown," a soft ballad that reminds
Shaun that his musical ability is a gift from God. This helps Shaun to
remain grounded in light of all that is going on in his life.
Overall, Invitation To Eavesdrop is a well rounded collection
of stories put to music. More talked up for the Rock -n- Roll, but interlaced
with worshipful ballads.
