Kelly Minter, the latest addition to Word Records, is described as being guitar-based southern rock with high energy. Her personality on and off stage glows with cheerfulness and a big smile. Her story is a good example of how your personal plan may not be God's plan. Minter was intending on playing basketball in college, and when this plan was crushed she found herself being disappointed in her relationship with Christ. From this experience Minter found herself led to writing and singing. After college Minter started to gather a following of fans, and was eventually introduced to the label by Bubba Smith. The label was attracted to Minter because she was doing what she truly loved, and she would be doing it with or with out a record contract. Her first radio single "Any More Sure" describes what it means to have faith in something we cannot see. It depicts the feeling a person gets when they see the way Jesus works in their lives. The songs on Good Day are, as Minter wanted them, simplistic but deep and very catchy. Minter has a style that is free-spirited and energetic and she performs as well on stage as she does in the studio. Her positive lyrics and lively performance are fitting of her love for people and the message of the Gospel. Minter takes this positive message to prisons with her involvement in Operation Starting Line, a prison fellowship. Minter is humble and she admits to being personally effected by the contacts she makes in this ministry. She testifies, "we have all fallen short of the glory of God, and yet His Grace is sufficient for everyone of us." Minter has a made a statement that sums it all up, "I have seen Him first-hand
lift the anger out of my own life and free me of bitterness. Add this
to the fact that I am alive, breathing, and that I know God personally,
and I am reminded of how blessed I truly am and what a good day it really
is."
