My six year old daughter and I had just pulled out of the driveway to run an errand, when she asked me to turn on some music (she doesn't like to go too far without it). It so happened that the latest from FFH was in the CD player. Then she asked, "Would you please turn it up? I love this song!" Wow, I thought, here's a band that my child and I both like. So, why is it that this formally a cappella band became an overnight success. The top-selling Christian band and one of the highest independent bands on the charts (they even wrote and recorded a COKE radio add and their CD was taken on the space shuttle ENDEAVOR mission 2000)? Could it be because this group has a heart for the whole family? FFH began in 1991 when two high school Seniors, Jeremy Deibler and Brian Smith started the four-man vocal group. One played the drums and another played the trumpet. They decided that wasn't really enough to make a band so they chose to just sing. They traveled around as an a cappella group for three to four years. They began making an impact before they were ever signed on a record label. Currently, this four person band consists of Jeremy and Brian, Jeremy's wife, Jennifer, and the newest member Michael Boggs. They love to sing, but their real focus is ministry. They want others to know about Jesus. FFH works to accomplish this by targeting the whole family. They put fourth music and lyrics that teens and parents can connect with. The group has seen over 6000 people come to know Jesus. At concerts they like to have a variety of music including pop, acoustic, praise and worship. Some songs are with tracks and some a cappella. They spend time at the end of concerts to talk and pray with their fans. FFH has become quite versatile instrumentally. They have included more strings and piano, yet, they deliver great blending vocals. Lyrically, "Have I Ever Told You" consists of songs of prayer, praise, and fun. The title track "Have I Ever Told You" is a heart felt song written from a father‚s perspective by Jeremy after a conversation with his dad about his parents divorce 20 years ago. "Fly Away" is an uplifting song that reminds us of the day when we will one day go to Heaven. "I'm Amazed" and "On the Cross" are based on a series of sermons about the crucifixion written by the well-known author Max Lucado. FFH has teamed up with Lucado to help furnish new Christians with tools of ministry. FFH takes a new step with "Have I Ever Told You" by giving the listener an understanding of who they are and sharing about their Christian walk. Through this ministry they hope to make in impact on the lives of others. -Ellen E. |
