Don't Let Me Forget Hourglass consists of vocalist/guitarist Jason Soroski, guitarist Erik Yates, bassist Jason Crahen, and percussionist Jason Jones. Having the name "Jason" isn't a requirement for the band, but having a heart for God is! Hourglass uses music and drama to edify others and to worship the Lord. Their debut "Don't Let Me Forget" is a prime example of their desire to worship. Lyrically the songs of "Don't Let Me Forget" are biblically solid, drawing from scriptures and relating to life. The title track says a lot about the fire we have for God and how we need to ensure we don't forget His mercy and grace. Music like this is an awesome way to keep God's word in your heart and mind during your busy day. "Broken Hearts Belong" is a heartening song that sings of the ultimate Love of the Savior, and "Masquerade" makes a bold statement about how we live our lives and what we live for. Musically "Don't Let Me Forget" is nostalgic and reminiscent of the late 70's rock. The production is simple and not cluttered with loops and pounding beats. However, it's not overly simple and in fact, each track has a distinct melody which makes the entire project worth listening to. It's the perfect mixture of musical entertainment and poetic fulfillment. On the bands web site, they compare themselves to a mixing of Third Day, Matchbox 20, and guitar work of Eric Clapton and the Eagles. I find the latter part of that to be the most true and also the most pleasing. Check out their new web site at www.hourglassministries.com where you can find lyrics and ordering information... and more. -Ken W. |
