Who Are We?

Daniel Nettey

Thank You
Daniel Nettey
Ekolo Records

Being on an independent label generally gives an artist more freedom to express their feelings in a more artistic manner. Daniel Nettey does that by combining gospel, R&B, worship, reggae, and African folk in an end product that is a smooth array of worship music.

Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Daniel grew up without musical instruments in the home. Heavily influenced by the Blues music his father listened to Daniel taught himself enough to lead him into becoming an assistant music director at his local church.

"Thank You" has many outstanding tracks but a few of my favorites are the reggae laced "It's Not Hard," and "God's Eyes on Africa." There is also a lovely duet with Daniel's friend, Rachel Thompson, called "I AM The Lord." A true praise and worship ballad that silently sooths the soul. "Revive Us", a subtle tune with a piano accompaniment, is a choice ballad. Daniel describes the meaning of the song in this statement.

The basis for this theme song is the belief that as Christians, we have all grown cold. The parable said if one has 100 sheep, and one goes astray... today, much more than one have gone astray... more than half it seems, as we Christians have grown cool in our quest for spreading the good news, began to be in the world, and also of the world, and in a lot of ways, have compromised on God's standards.

Our cry is for a "Revival", first in the Churches (where Pastors have also compromised, by wanting to please and sooth the congregation, instead of telling then the naked truth), and then Revival in our lands, including the United States, where our law makers have compromised God to the fullest by the laws they pass.

A strong statement sure to upset many, but I'd be the first to admit that I have experienced luke-warm worship, and it frightens me. "Thank You" is a fresh standout praise and worship CD with a distinct sound and currently available at www.cdstreet.com. "Thank You" will be released nationally this spring.
