Remedy Strange Celebrity came together as front man Luke Brown began a quest to fulfill a life-long dream. Through auditions and personal connections Brown put together the team of musicians now known as Strange Celebrity. Although the band was assembled in this manner, they feel that there is still a "family" feeling to the band and the chemistry is in the friendships that quickly developed. Strange Celebrity is a rock band through and through with comparisons to Tonic, Foo Fighters, and a slight bit of the Stone Temple Pilots. Their Squint debut titled "Remedy" is laden with relationship woes. Songs like "Dangerous" sing about battling the flesh and human temptations, and "Bring Me Back To Life" sings about the struggles of relationship and the corelating commitment of being faithful. "Remedy" is meant to offer hope in what seems like a hopeless situation. Most assuring is "Rise." "Rise" is the most open faith-based track on the CD. It is also the most rocking' track on the CD with the predominant heavy riff that draw the comparison with the Stone Temple Pilots. It's interesting to note that Cindy Morgan shares writing credits on this particular track. Strange Celebrity is forthright in the fact that ministry doesn't have to be the music, but the service of the musician. Service can come from someone catching a glimpse of hope from their music. - Ken W. |
