Risk "Risk" is easy to get into and get excited about. The CD delivers a clear, bold and beautiful message that the risk of taking action is necessary. Taking action is exactly what Ten Shekel Shirt is about these days. Part of the inspiration for "Risk" came from travels abroad where the band saw first hand the horrors of child slavery and prostitution. After returning from their trip, the band started Justice For Children International. Assisting the International Justice Mission, (www.ijm.org) bringing awareness to the exploitation of children around the world. The song "Over The Room" is built around the idea of the celebration of freedom that a person feels when rescued from such a life. Charting new waters the band steps away from its worship-driven debut and ventures more into a more rock based sound. However the first AC radio single released, "Poorest King" is a slower ballad, and another very personal ballad called "February" really highlight the CD. "February" was written about a personal grief over the loss of two family members eight years apart, but both in the month of February. The song conveys the grief and the longing to be together again with loved ones lost. Ten Shekel Shirt gets an A+ for mission and a corresponding A+ for conveying the message so profoundly on "Risk." - Ken W. |
