Everyday Sunday This band from Columbus, OH avoids the dreaded "sophomore slump" on this excellent record. A favorable comparison can be made to Relient K. In fact, Relient K lead singer Matt Thiessen provides some background vocals on "The One." "Bring It On" has a great sing-along chorus that features the lyric "We're bringing it for God" and is replete with a jam session ending. Many songs-"Sanctuary," "Comfort Zone," "To the Skies"- revolve around the theme life is rough-depend on God to get you through it. "Won't Give Up" brings to mind the "weed parable" of Mark 9: 13-20. "Herself," a pop song, provides a refreshing take on what these guys want in a gal-independent, self-assured and loves God. Sonically, "Gypsy Girl" (the band's current single) recalls The Who's "Baba O'Riley" while "Sanctuary" would be at home on a P.O.D. record. This is a fun, immensely likeable record. - Rob S. |
