The Fires of Life Floodgate Records Inspired by Isaiah 43:2, with a theme of hope (Psalm 30:5) and a rhythm that permeates every neuron, "The Fires of Life" is on a level all of its own. Musically, Cool Hand Luke weaves a sonic tapestry that is textbook in pitch, tone color, and rhythm. Combine that with the openly Christian lyrics and you have a truly amazing work of art. Very few times has a rock album been able to move me so emotionally. The solemn vocals of Mark Nicks emphasize the seriousness of the lyrics; which far surpass ordinary writing into more of a realm of poetry, prose, and vertical worship. "The Fires of Life" combine art with faith in a favorable fusion of lyrics, emotions, and skillful musicianship. This album blows away any thoughts or preconceived notions that Christian music has to be more lyrically "universal" and secularly relevant to be good. - Ken W. |
