Space In Between Us
Building 429
Word Records

If it were all about hits and breaking new ground on charts then Building429 would be among the greatest of all bands, but the reality of it all hits are just hits. I don't mean to demean their accomplishments, but super-radio-hits are only a small measure of what makes a band great.

Building429 is a relatively new band, having formed in 2000 by front man Jason Ray and bassist Scotty Beshears. After listening to the “Glory Defined” EP, the new CD, and after seeing them live on the Sonicflood tour, I'm convinced that there is still more work to be done. “Glory Defined” as a single has propelled them up the charts, but on a whole the EP, and now the full length release of “Space In Between Us”, does little to excite me.

On the plus side, I believe the content of the lyrics are something to be praised. As the musicianship of the band progresses and matures I think we could hear much more than radio-friendly rock from Building429. So in the meantime, I'll enjoy the hits and hope for the best as an all around rock band.
