Ian Eskelin Save the Humans
“Save the Humans” is the first solo release from All Star United front-man Ian Eskelin in over ten years. Ian takes a positive approach to songwriting and succeeds at making an album that is upbeat and radio-friendly. There is a sort of tounge-in-cheek humor on the album, but not to far gone that it's a Weird Al parody CD. Think maybe of Relient K toned down a bit and you'll have “Save the Humans.” I particularly like the song “American Idol” that confronts our entertainment driven attitudes about where our treasure really lies. Ian also tosses in a few hymns with “The Solid Rock” and “I Love to Tell the Story.”
Overall I like the format and the mood of “Save the Humans,” but the drive to make an entire album of radio songs always seems to stifle creativity.
