Daniels Window Strangely Looking Forward Cross Driven Records
Daniels Window is one of the hardest working worship bands that I know. They have consistently poured their hearts and resources into their ministry. The band is very popular with youth groups and retreats, but has yet, with three full studio releases under their belt, been able to break into the limelight of CCM.
Their latest “Strangely Looking Forward” is a combination of many styles that DW has gone through in the past. They go back to their roots with "Tidal Wave”; a song that brings back comparisons that have been made between the vocals of Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) and DW's Heather King. “Such a Long Time” also reminds me of their pre-modern-worship-No Doubt-days. One of the new songs “I Worship You” reminds me of another female fronted rock band called Broomtree. This song is more rock than modern worship, but it's still a great song. There are also three songs on this album that have been previously released; “Solid Rock”, “I'm Gonna Dance”, and “I Will Live For You”. All three are more of DW's youth anthem praise and worship style. Of the new songs, my favorite two are “He Will Run to You” and “Never Forget a Face.” These two songs possess the most originality and lyrical depth as well as highlight the truly beautiful vocals of Heather King.
I continue to be impressed by Daniels Window's workmanship and their determination. Although “Strangely Looking Forward” is ten songs short, with three re-released songs, it still has huge potential and it gives a hint of things to come.
