Jontez
“and so it is. . .”
Soul2Seoul Entertainment
12 tracks @ 49:16

This former member of God’s Property releases a solo record that falls into the pop music category with some R&B flavor. Jontez has some buzz behind him as ChristianMusicToday.com named him an “Artist to Watch for” in 2005.

A primary theme throughout this record is his personal faith journey, a journey that at times led to burn-out and feelings of brokenness.

His musical influences range from Amy Grant and the Gaither Vocal Band to Brandy and 50 Cent. My 17 year-old daughter says some of his slower material reminds her of Usher. (I wouldn’t know, that’s why I asked)

According to his PR material, Jontez hopes his music will have a significant impact on both Christian and secular audiences. Translation: generic lyrics, at times. For example, his PR material describes “Call Me Your Own” as “an inspirational R&B ode to Jesus’ unconditional love that could first be interpreted as coming from a boyfriend or girlfriend.”

On the other hand, the first single, the flamenco flaked “Can’t get Enough,” does reference John 3:16 while “I Am “seems to draw upon Exodus 3:14.

Jontez is an artist with a lot of potential.
