Rita Springer
I Have to Believe
Found Records
12 tracks @ 49:51

Rita Springer releases her fifth studio project, a largely vertical, contemplative, piano-driven disk of worship and praise. Rita gets production help from Nathan Nockles of Watermark (not Waterdeep, as listed in her PR material-oops) and Margaret Becker.

According to her PR material, this record continues telling the story of her journey to get closer to the presence of God. She largely succeeds with this effort.

The opening track, “I Have to Believe” has a bit of a bluesy feel to it while “My Hero” brings a little more energy to the record.

“Rise Up,” with its very fine Gospel backing chorus, is a much more satisfying performance than that on her 2003 live recording. Most of this record is original material but does include a cover of delirious? “Rain Down,” which doesn’t stray far from the original.

This is a nice CD that would be great to play at the end of a busy day, or when you’re in a contemplative mood.
