After 10 years as an independent act, this multi-ethnic, Dallas-based group releases its first CD through Executive Music Group. Fans of pop-rock music, such as The Newsboys, will like this record.

Themes revolve around joy and forgiveness, especially in the songs “Beautiful World” and “Surrounded.”

Years of touring has sharpened this group’s musical talent. While their PR material mentions funk and a horn section, “Beautiful World” reminded me of Denver and the Mile Orchestra.

“Words from the Heart” is a clever, satirical number that seems to be directed at the CCM industry and Christian artists who “sell out.” That is, there’s often more of a focus on radio charts, sing-along melodies and choreography than on Jesus. This song would be hysterically funny if it weren’t so sadly true.

Right now the band’s target markets are in the southwest. I can see them gaining a wider audience coast-to-coast.
