Fighting Instinct The press materials for Fighting Instinct hit it right on the nail when they said that “new rock bands are a dime a dozen…”. So the real challenge here is to differentiate each one from the multitude of other bands emerging on the scene. Fighting Instinct does that with their own flavor of southern rock and modern rock. Their musical influences include the same eclectic mix of Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Synyrd and more modern influences like Soundgarden and the Foo Fighters. What I like most about their self-titled debut are the guitar driven tracks like “You Don’t Know” which emphasize the melodic but edgy vocals of T.J. Harris. The same can be said for the Lifehouse like anthem “Crush.” The energy level never decreases on the album and the band has already broken into the charts. Including the Top 30 Mainstream Rock and Active Rock chart. With a strong start, the band has a “fighting” chance of riding the initial tidal wave of rock bands through its apex and beyond.
