Tales From the Badlands

Gotee Records

Tales from the Badlands is not just another cleaver title with minor significance.  Instead the title is taken directly from life on the edge.  Raised by his grandmother in the inner city of Philadelphia, Liquid looked to music from a reprieve.  The “Badlands” was a title given to his neighborhood from Nightline, a TV news show that portrayed the neighborhood solely in a negative light.  However, Liquid wants people to know that there is more to it than what they see on TV.  For example, the song “Ghetto,” according to Liquid, says, “Hey, look at what’s come from the place you call ‘The Badlands’.”

The Gotee debut, Tales From the Badlands, features Liquid’s particular mix of R&B, hip-hop, rock, soul, jazz, reggae, and a little bit of Latin influence.  The lyrics are glaringly honest and there for those who need someone who can relate to their personal experiences.  Many of us can’t understand what people from inner city settings go through, and most assuredly we sometimes miss the concept that these people are families, even in the absence of the immediate family.

Hopefully I could at least spark your interest enough to check out what others, many more qualified in this genre, have written about Tales From the Badlands.  You can start by checking out Gotee.com.
