Leeland Sound of Melodies Essential
This young band has been making a big splash in CCM circles, receiving veneration from the likes of Michael W. Smith and cover stories in CCM Magazine. The charts are showing their success as well. The buzz is hard to miss.
For the most part, Leeland is highly deserving of the praises, as the music is a refreshing change from the wave or rock washing over the market right now. However strong it may be though, aside from the original songwriting, there is a lot of familiarity in the tune of “Sound of Melodies.” There is little that distinguishes them when you consider the composition of the album. Unfortunately, not having that personal connection that MWS has or the first hand experiences of seeing the band or meeting them, I can only envision that there must be something about them personally that people are really connecting to.
As far as the charts go, I think people are looking for something fresh and spiritually strong, and that is one plus of this album. It is definitely worth checking out if you have not already been swept up.
