Khul Rhema What the World Needs Now Go2Paul Gospel Music Grade - B
Tico Hudson, also know as Khul Rhema, just released his debut solo album called What the World Needs Now. He combines his love for God with refined beats and pretty impressive lyrics.
The main theme of the album is the greatest commandment: love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. This theme comes through clearly and is quite refreshing for a Christian rap album.
I was quite impressed with the beats he laid down for his songs. Most of them have an upbeat dance feel to them. I was also impressed with the quality of his lyrics. He made his message flow and rhyme in a way that is usually characterized only by better established Christian rappers.
There were two parts of this album that I don’t like. First, was the fact that most of the lyrics are hard to understand due to poor mixing. I had to listen to some songs a couple of times to get what they were saying. Second, I did not like Khul Rhema’s belief that God is guaranteed to bless His children with physical wealth. There are a couple of songs that focused on that topic. At least he admits this belief is controversial.
Overall this is a good album. There were a few items I don’t like, however not enough to discourage people from checking this out. I definitely like the dance beats combined with the focus on the greatest commandment.
