An A is likely a high mark for a compilation.  However, when the honored artist has achieved success at atmospheric levels, such as Amy Grant has, the grade is warranted. 

I suspect though, those who purchase this will be the die-hard Amy fans.  Or the “Friends of Amy” as they are called on her website.  The thing that baffles me the most however, is why anyone purchase a greatest hits CD when the entire library is on line.  Considering that many of the complaints about a greatest-hits project is usually the songs that were omitted or even those that were included.  All this can be avoided by purchasing individual tunes from an online service.  In this case that would be iTunes where you can now find Amy’s catalog which has recently been re-released. 

Lastly, a greatest hits album typically marks one of two transition points.  The first is the ending of an artist or band, and the second marks a ramp-up to a new project.  In this case, there is hope that it marks a transition into a re-emerging career for Amy.
