Surrogate is Chris Keene (vocalist/multi-instrumentalists) and Jordan Mallory (drummer). Their Tooth & Nail debut, “Love Is For the Rich,” is another example of how the music industry is rapidly changing as it was self-produced and recorded primarily in Keene’s bedroom or in a lumber warehouse in the Chico, CA area. 

It is difficult now days to sometimes distinguish the difference between a homegrown recording and a major studio release.  The high quality of digital recording and affordability of recording equipment has made it easier than ever to make such a recoding.  However, I don’t have a lot of background information on the band otherwise so it is difficult to speak of content and context, but the album is well produced.  What I can say is that “Love Is For the Rich” is a melodic and highly acoustic album.  I think the greatest quality is the warm serene rhythmic musical backdrop.
