Kathryn Scott I Belong Integrity Music Grade – B
The latest from Integrity Music is Northern Ireland’s Kathryn Scott. Scott’s debut, “I Belong,” is a blend of worship and pop. I like listening to the CD for several reasons. First, her voice is delightful and compares well to singer/songwriter Sara Groves. Secondly, the songs are uplifting, reverent, and all original. The debut boasts 11 original tracks all together.
The title track is a prime example of the vertical worship of the album. “I Belong” is a moving soft-spoken piano ballad. Although the worship style is most prevalent, songs like “Everything Changes” have more of a singer/songwriter or pop flavor.
“I Belong” is a wonderful debut and one that I will continue to listen to over time. The peaceful worshipful mood it sets is refreshing. Kathryn Scott’s web blog states that she has had over 9 years of experience leading worship and it shows in the quality of her label debut.
