The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir
“I’ll Say Yes”
Integrity Music
13 tracks @ 71:04
Grade = B

While I had heard of The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, I wasn’t aware of their impressive track record, including six Grammy Awards, seven Dove Awards. “I’ll Say Yes” is their twenty-sixth album.

According to its PR material, the choir includes everyone from attorneys and nurses to street people and ex-crack addicts. Senior Pastor Jim Cymbala says, “The choir represents all different walks of life and every kind of sin. You name it and we have someone who has been saved out of it, starting next to another one who has grown up in the church.”

“None of us would have met it weren’t for Christ,” he says. “All of us have one thing in common: we all have been lifted up and saved. The Choir sings, not about a theological position, but about what has happened to them. It’s not a theory, it’s a reality.”

This is a live recording. I liked “Holy is the Lord” and “I Need You Once Again,” the latter of which is led by the women of the choir. There are a few un-credited soloists.

Director Carol Cymbala says, “I just want to see people drawn to Jesus Christ. I want the music to be the arrow that points them to Him.”
