Andy Hunter When was the last time you paid retail for music? I know when I did, it was for this disk and it’s worth it. Hey, artists have to make a legitimate living somehow. Given that work from his last record still shows up in movies (I heard something of Andy’s in a movie trailer for “Speed Racer”) is testament to his music’s staying power. The challenge for Andy Hunter and his techno-dance style is to keep it fresh and interesting. With the addition of the occasional strings and a variety of vocalists, Andy largely succeeds on his new record. You simply must listen to “Stars” and “Shine” outdoors on a clear evening with headphones on. “Technicolor” and “Out of Control” will get you moving while “You” is another excellent track. I would have given this record an “A” but there seemed to be a recycled idea or two and I could live without the vocal style used on “Miracle.” There’s a lot of music on this disk. I caught hints of Pink Floyd and Human League while my wife heard Raze (a group I really miss). How about all of us head over to Andy’s MySpace and leave a request: Please tour America Andy! - Rob S. |
