The Ten Commandments
Promenade Pictures
As a part of an “Epic Stories of the Bible” series, Promenade Pictures has released “The Ten Commandments,” a computer animated rendition of the Biblical story of Moses and the exodus from Egypt. The old story is given new life with updated computer animation which works well in bringing the story alive. The rating is a PG for mild peril. It's a deserving rating and I like that they do not sugar coat the events down to a G rated cartoon. However, there are a few instances where the script takes a few liberties and a purest is likely to scoff at the changes. Personally I did not think the changes were that big of a deal. My biggest hang up on the film is the voice of Christian Slater as Moses – too dry and monotone.
Overall “The Ten Commandments” is a good introduction to the series and I hope to see more episodes coming in the future. The DVD does include some extras like a video by Jeremy Camp and some behind the scenes interviews and production video. There are at least two official sites where you can find out more about the movie.
