The latest installment from comedian Chonda Pierce is awesomely hilarious and precariously personal. Lately, with each subsequent release Pierce has dealt publicly with some very serious personal issues. The current videio, “Stayin' Alive... Laughing!” is to date the most real of all. The whole disco theme is just a minor underling topic that enables her to deliver a more pertinent message to the church. Pierce speaks often of her upbringing within a highly conservative church and how things have changed over the years. She also talks about the importance of the church body reaching out in a deeper, more genuinely, to those that are hurting and struggling.

The portion of the DVD where Chonda shared her personal testimony seemed longer than previous DVD's. However, as she opens up to the audience and shares she is deeply moving and a huge inspiration to those in attendance and to those who watch the DVD. She makes me laugh and cry all in the same moment. Chonda also sticks to some of her standard behaviors like laughing at herself and taking aim at the few male attenders in the audience.

“Stayin' Alive... Laughing!” is a superlative addition to Chonda's respected collection of live shows.
